Description “When working en plein air you face many challenges so you need to give yourself any advantage that you can by having reliable materials to work with. I love the ivory range for use with oils. They are softer and more flexible than the traditional hog, but firmer and springier than many of the synthetic brushes on the market. With a minimal level of care they hold their shape and importantly keep that flat edge well. I’ve selected these brushes in particular as a good basic range for plein air painting on a small to medium scale. Ideally you need a good number of brushes so that you don’t have to spend much of your precious painting time cleaning brushes in between changing colours as your subject vanishes before your eyes. The longer length bristles of the long flats and egberts allow for joyous fluid strokes and the riggers are reserved for those special fine lines that you sometimes need to add towards the end of a painting.
